WOMEN’S LIBERATION IS AN INSIDE JOB: ENDING SELF-BETRAYAL

WATCH TWO KEY OUTTAKES FROM ABBY’S STORY:

TEDx Overview

Feminism brought advances in equal rights, anti-discrimination, sexual harassment laws, and all manner of “empowerment.”. However, women continue to battle for self-respect, self-esteem, and self-confidence, which begs the question...did Women’s Lib miss something?

In a burning bush moment, Abby, a couple’s therapist, found her self-worth on the floor of an overcrowded jail cell (of all places). She believes the modern woman’s woes are largely the result of internal, unconscious, conditioned beliefs in our UNworthiness.

By combining social justice with an inward gaze, women can overcome the habitual emotions that lead to self-betrayal. In her TEDx talk, she shared that the next wave of feminism begins with a straightforward question.

Abby Havermann is a transformation junkie, authenticity enthusiast, and life-long seeker of truth and social justice. Her longing to discuss elephants in living rooms led to a career in psychotherapy, where she created a shame-evaporating space for people to hear their otherwise bullied intuitions.

Now a dynamic coach, speaker, writer, and trainer dedicated to facilitating sustainable change, Abby combines psychology, neuroscience, and ancient wisdom to teach people how to rewire their brains, adapt, and transcend prior limitations.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
